Cultivation methods and precautions of silver hazel

Cultivation methods and precautions of silver hazel

1. Soil

The soil conditions of witch hazel are not very demanding. It can grow in acidic and neutral soils, but it grows best in loose, fertile, well-drained sandy soil. When planting, you can use river sand, garden soil and leaf mold, and add some base fertilizer to mix and prepare its nutrient soil.

2. Lighting

It grows well in places with plenty of sunlight, but can also grow in semi-shade conditions. It is recommended to place it on a balcony or in a well-lit place outdoors for maintenance.

3. Temperature

It grows best in warm environments but is extremely cold tolerant. The best growth temperature for it is 15-25℃ throughout the year. During the high temperature period in summer, appropriate shading and cooling should be carried out. No special management is needed in winter. When the temperature is below -10℃, some insulation treatment can be done to avoid affecting the normal growth of the plants.

4. Watering

It grows best in a moist environment, so water it immediately when the soil appears dry. During the dry period in summer, you can water the plants once in the morning and once in the evening. Normally, you only need to water them once every 2-3 days. There is no need to water frequently in winter, generally watering once every 5-7 days is sufficient.

5. Fertilization

It likes fertilizer. In the early stages of growth, you can apply some organic fertilizer to supplement the nutrients in the soil. During the growing period, some phosphorus and potassium fertilizers can be applied, which is more conducive to the growth of the plants.
