The more you grow the flower, the uglier it becomes

Do you have the same troubles as your friends who love flowers? Do you always feel that your flowers are not as beautiful as others?

The picture below shows a mountain rose grown by someone else.

The picture below shows the mountain roses raised by flower lovers

There are even more amazing flower lovers who grow roses into small green vegetables

Other people's roses have compact flowers and leaves, but the roses are getting bigger and bigger

The rose branches you grow are really fierce. Although there are many buds, the flowers are getting smaller and smaller.

Other people's Clivias are neat and tidy, with leaves in pairs.

It's good enough if your Clivia can grow as long as it blooms.

After looking at these comparisons, flower lovers, think about it, which camp are you in? In fact, it’s not scary to grow ugly flowers. Let’s correct them now!

Succulent correction

The deformation of succulent plants usually occurs when they grow too tall. Huahua has talked about the solution to the problem of growing too tall many times. It’s a small problem!

1. Cut the head directly and replant

Some succulents grow so tall that even their mothers can't recognize them. At this time, you should ruthlessly cut off the flower heads, remove the leaves, and replant them.

Don't worry if you leave the original part behind, it will grow a new "head" again (you can use a cotton swab dipped in carbendazim solution to wipe it for disinfection)

The picture below shows the new shoots that grew after beheading. Aren’t they much better than when they were growing too long?

One plant can become a large pot~

2. Cultivate old piles

Leggy plants can be grown into old piles, but the branches need to be thicker. Leggy succulents that meet the requirements should start preparing to "evolve" into old piles.

The picture below shows a leggy succulent plant. It looks relatively robust and is recommended to be left as an old stump.

Remove the dead leaves and the leaves at the bottom one-third of the height, and replace them with old soil with more particles (more breathable)

During the growth period of old piles, water them less frequently, once every 5-10 days. Place them in a ventilated place and don't be afraid of the flesh getting thirsty. This is the only way to grow old piles.

Clivia correction

The shape of Clivia is symmetrical, and the leaves spread out symmetrically and gently like a peacock spreading its tail. Don’t underestimate it because it seems so simple. If you can grow a standard Clivia, it can be worth tens of thousands!

How to shape the crooked Clivia at home?

1. Observe the distortion

Some Clivias look fine from the front, but the leaves are not drooping uniformly.

But if you look down, you will immediately find that the leaves are facing forward and backward, not uniform at all.

If you leave it alone, it will become like this, it's really ugly

2. Rope binding

If the leaves just move back and forth, as shown below

Tie them together gently with a rope, don't tie them too tight to avoid damaging the leaves. It will take about 1-2 weeks.

3. Use the clamp to keep balance

If the Clivia is only tilted to one side, as shown below

You can take a few clips and cardboard, and use the cardboard to surround the roots (10 cm high) to stabilize the lower plate.

Then use a clip to clamp the leaves on both sides (put toilet paper on it to prevent the leaves from being pinched). You can adjust the position of the clip according to the angle you like, and make sure to keep the two sides symmetrical.

Clip correction also takes 1-2 weeks to complete

3. Severe skewness: directly apply splint

For Clivia that grows crooked front to back or left to right, you can make a splint to correct it. Find two long pieces of cardboard, use scissors to dig holes in them (the holes on the two pieces of paper are in the same position), and then put the leaves into the holes.

4. Light correction

Light correction is also a common correction method. The crooked leaves are wrapped with opaque long strips of paper (usually tin foil) and light is used to change the growth trend.

You can also use opaque paper and fix it with clips (be careful not to tighten it too much to avoid damaging the leaves)

At this time, it needs to be rotated 180 degrees every 7 days to ensure a more comprehensive correction. It will take about 2-3 weeks, don't take too long so as not to overcorrect.

Rose pruning

Pruning roses not only makes the shape more beautiful, but also ensures the quality of flowering. If roses are not pruned, a lot of nutrients will be absorbed by the branches, and there will be very little left when it blooms, so the flowers will naturally be small and thin.

1. Prune excess branches

Don’t be reluctant to cut off the roses. Cut them now and it will save you a lot of trouble later! When pruning, you need to know how to prune, and keep the outer buds, as shown below

Post a full body photo

When pruning, you can cut around the central main stem according to the shape of the sapling.

If there are many branches, you can trim them into the shape you like.

2. Prune after flowering

After the rose blooms, the remaining flowers should be cut off in time to ensure the quality of the next bloom

3. Cut off blind branches

Blind buds and branches not only consume nutrients, but also affect the overall appearance, so they must be cut off immediately!

The picture below shows a blind bud. This bud will no longer grow new branches and can be removed.

The picture below shows a blind branch. It will not continue to grow. Cut it off immediately.

After trimming

After pruning, the rose receives more sunlight and has more concentrated nutrients, so it grows better. The following picture shows the comparison of roses before and after pruning.

Today I will talk about these three kinds of flowers.
