How to prolong the flowering period of cactus

How to prolong the flowering period of cactus

1. When does it bloom?

If you want to see it bloom under normal circumstances, you need to plant it for at least three to four years, and the diameter of the sphere must reach more than three or four centimeters. Different varieties have different degrees of difficulty in flowering. Some are difficult to bloom, and it is said that they will only have a chance to bloom after being planted for ten to twenty years. It usually blooms in May, with a short flowering period of only a few hours to a day, and a long flowering period of two or three days.

2. How to extend

1. Growth environment

To provide it with an area with suitable temperature, you can choose a window and cover it with a plastic bag. This way, it will grow faster and have a higher chance of flowering. It likes sunlight, so make sure the temperature is above 20 degrees, otherwise it will not bloom. If you want to prolong the flowering period after it blooms, do not put it under the light, just let it see the sun occasionally.

2. Watering

It likes dryness and does not need a lot of water. It would rather keep the pot dry than let it be too wet, and certainly not leave water in it. When watering, make sure the soil is watered thoroughly. There is no need to change the pot or soil when it blooms.

3. Add fertilizer

Add fertilizer once every ten to fifteen days. Use decomposed fertilizer, and the amount can be small, not too much. If the temperature is higher than 32 degrees in summer, or below 20 degrees in cool weather, do not add fertilizer to it, otherwise it will cause fertilizer damage, which will be bad for the roots and it will die easily.

3. Notes

1. A large part of cacti bloom because they receive sufficient light. Generally, there are buds in the morning and evening. The flowers will not bloom until the sun is the strongest. Therefore, if you want to make it bloom, changing the light is a good way. As for after flowering, in order to prolong the blooming time, it should not be exposed to too much sun.

2. There are many types of it, and the flowering times are different, so there is no universality. Therefore, in order to increase the chance of extending the flowering period, you must first understand its varieties and prescribe the right medicine according to its habits.
