1. WateringThe newly bought irises can be planted outdoors in wetlands near ponds or in shallow water, with a planting depth of 6-8cm. After planting, keep the water depth at 4-5cm. You don't need to worry about it if it's grown outdoors. You can also find a large-diameter flowerpot for maintenance and keep water in the pot. 2. LightingIris loves light and can tolerate partial shade, but poor light will affect the flowering of the plant. Therefore, when growing irises at home, you should let them see more sunlight. Sufficient sunlight will make them grow vigorously and bloom more. Moreover, in the summer, the temperatures are high, so as long as you ensure sufficient water supply, you don't have to worry about the sun. 3. TemperatureThe most suitable growth temperature for iris is 15-30℃. After the frost in autumn and winter every year, the stems and leaves on the ground will wither, and we can just trim off the withered stems and leaves. Potted plants should also be trimmed and the soil should be kept slightly moist to allow them to safely overwinter. 4. FertilizationIris does not require much fertilizer and water. It only needs to keep the soil fertile during planting. It is best to use neutral or slightly acidic soil. If the soil is alkaline, superphosphate and potassium fertilizer can be mixed into the soil as base fertilizer during planting. 5. DiseasesIn hot and rainy seasons, irises are particularly susceptible to soft rot and blossom end rot. When soft rot occurs, the color of the plant's leaves will fade, dry and blacken, and the underground stems will also rot. Bordeaux liquid can be used for prevention and control. When blossom rot occurs, you can use mancozeb to prevent and control it. Before spraying the pesticide, remember to clean up the rotten plants and eliminate the diseased plants to avoid infection. |
