How to propagate bamboo begonia

How to propagate bamboo begonia

1. Cutting

Branch Selection

The main method of propagation of Bamboo Begonia is cutting propagation, and the best time is May and June. Select the best young branches growing on the top of Bamboo Begonia, which should have two to three small buds on them, and cut them about 0.5 cm below the bamboo node of the selected branch.

Remove leaves

At the same time, remove the leaves on the lower part. If the leaves on the upper part are too large, you can remove half of them.

Soil preparation

The choice of cultivation soil after cuttings is also very important. It is best to choose river sand as the seedbed and insert the cut branches into it, about one-third of the length.

take care of

After inserting, be sure to avoid direct sunlight and maintain a certain degree of humidity in the air. Spray water once around noon every day.

plant

If the temperature conditions are well controlled, it will take half a month to take root. The temperature should generally be controlled between 20 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius. One month after it has taken root, you can move it into a pot and plant it. Of course, you can also choose to grow it in water, but you need to change the water every one to two days, and then transplant it after it takes root.

2. Maintenance after cutting

Watering

After sowing, the bamboo begonia needs to be watered, and the watering method should also be paid attention to. The water should be slowly infiltrated to allow the water to moisten the potting soil from top to bottom, and then it needs to be covered with glass to play a moisturizing role.

Placement

At the same time, place the potted plants where they cannot be exposed to direct sunlight. If the temperature can be stabilized at around 20 degrees Celsius, the bamboo begonia will sprout in about twenty days!
