How to reproduce sugar apple

How to reproduce sugar apple

Sowing method

After taking seeds from high-quality fruits, wash them and dry them. Select the plump seeds and soak them in a certain concentration of erythromycin solution. After drying, sow them. If the seeds have been stored before sowing, they should be dried in the sun in advance to promote germination. The best soil is fertile sandy loam evenly fertilized with organic fertilizer. The sowing method can be either row sowing or broadcast sowing, with a sowing rate of 7-8 kg/mu. After sowing, cover the surface with a layer of fine sand, compact it slightly and then water it. Then cover it with a plastic film that can protect the surrounding heat. After it grows out, remove the grass or film in time. During this stage, you can water it twice a week. During dry periods, you need to add water almost every day. Start fertilizing after 6-9 leaves grow.

Grafting method

The grafting propagation of sugar apple can only be carried out when the plant is in the growth phase and the sap is flowing. The rootstock is generally an ordinary sugar apple with a diameter of more than 0.8 cm. Spring is suitable for branch grafting, summer and autumn are suitable for bud grafting, and winter is not suitable for grafting because of the cold weather. Choose the outer branches of well-developed, healthy and disease-free trees. After picking them, remove the leaves and retain 0.3-0.5 cm of petioles before grafting.

In summary, sugar apple is mainly propagated by two methods: sowing and grafting. Grafting should be carried out when the plant is growing so that the bark of the rootstock can be peeled off and grafting can be successfully achieved. In life, everyone can choose the appropriate method to allow the sugar apple to successfully reproduce according to their actual situation.
