How to propagate Chlorophytum comosum

How to propagate Chlorophytum comosum

Hydroponics

There are two propagation techniques for Chlorophytum comosum. Let’s first talk about the first method, which is hydroponic cultivation. First, choose a clean glass bottle, then fill it halfway with water, and then prepare a sterilized knife. Use a sterilized knife to cut a small section of the Chlorophytum branch, keeping the length at about 10 to 15 cm. Then flatten the upper end of the branch, leaving one or two pairs of leaves. Cut the lower end to be put into the bottle into an inclined shape, remove the excess branches and leaves, and after trimming the branches, place them in a cool and ventilated environment to air dry. Generally, the cut will be dry when it is visible.

After that, put the processed branches into the bottle, with the lower half of the paper strip about 5 centimeters deep in the water. Then place the glass bottle in a cool and breathable environment for growth. The temperature is helpful for the rooting of the branches. Generally, it is kept at around 20 degrees. Soon you will see thin roots growing from the lower end of the branches. After the branches grow roots, you can move them into pots for planting.

Cuttings

Speaking of cuttings, this method is the simplest. Just take a branch of the Chlorophytum comosum, and then insert it into the prepared flowerpot, water the soil thoroughly, and then move the flowerpot to a cool place, and always ensure that the soil is moist. Chlorophytum comosum needs light when growing. If the branches after cuttings grow well, they can be exposed to appropriate light. Then, while ensuring that there is no water accumulation in the flowerpot, water it frequently, which will make the Chlorophytum comosum grow more well.
