Jasmine is popular for its rich fragrance and continuous flowering period all year round. Its affordable price makes many flower lovers willing to try growing it. Jasmine is not only easy to care for, but also very suitable for propagation by cuttings. Let’s learn how to propagate jasmine by cuttings. 1. Water insertion method Choose healthy, green jasmine branches, about 10 cm long, keep the top two leaves, and cut off the bottom leaves. The base of the branches is cut at an angle to increase the water absorption area and promote rooting. Use a comb or foam board to secure the branches, leaving 2-3 cm of the bottom of the branches exposed above the foam board. Place the foam board in a container of water, to which you can add rooting solution to promote rooting. Place it in a semi-sunlight environment and be sure to replace dirty water in time. Generally, roots will grow within two weeks, but it is necessary to wait until the root system is well developed and there are at least 3-5 roots that are more than 3 cm long before transplanting to increase the survival rate. 2. Soil insertion method Also choose green branches with moderate hardness, about 10 cm in length, and keep 1-2 leaves on the top. The bottom of the branch is trimmed into an oblique end and inserted into nutrient soil with good air permeability to a depth of about 2-3 cm. Use pots with a diameter no larger than 10 cm and avoid using deep pots. Water thoroughly and add rooting solution and carbendazim to the water to prevent root rot. Place it in a well-lit and well-ventilated location and keep the soil slightly moist. Jasmine grown through soil transplanting generally takes root in 1-2 weeks and does not need to be transplanted. It can grow and bloom directly in the original pot. 3. During the cutting process, pay attention to the following points: Avoid using branches that are too young or too old, and choose healthy green branches. After cuttings, maintain suitable temperature and light, and avoid direct sunlight. Be careful not to overwater when watering to prevent water accumulation at the roots. After the cuttings are successfully taken, timely add balanced multi-element fertilizers to promote the growth of roots and new shoots. The above are two common methods of jasmine cuttings . Through these two cutting methods, even beginners can easily propagate jasmine.
