How to deal with colored calla lilies after they bloom

Problems that occur after Calla Lily blooms

I believe that a problem that troubles many flower lovers is that the leaves of Calla Lily gradually turn yellow after it blooms.

In fact, this is the dormant period of the colorful calla lily. So what should we do at this time?

Treatment of Calla Lily after Flowering

1. We need to fertilize and water the colored calla lily normally, but it should be noted that the amount of water should be gradually reduced when watering.

2. After the leaves have died and the soil in the pot has dried up, dig out the bulbs of the colored calla lily. It is best to soak them in antibacterial solution and then dry them for storage.

The “awakening” of calla lily bulbs

After the bulbs are dried, wrap them in newspaper and place them in the refrigerator or freezer at a temperature of about 7-10 degrees Celsius for about two months. Then take the bulbs out of the refrigerator and store them indoors for two to three days to allow them to come out of dormancy.

To prevent other conditions from occurring, wait until the bulbs sprout before planting them.

Precautions for caring for colored calla lilies at home

First, the heart leaves of colored calla lilies should not be wet. When watering, be careful not to let water flow into the heart leaves, otherwise it will easily cause soft rot.

Second, when applying fertilizer, it should be done from the edge of the flower pot, and the fertilizer should not enter the petiole or the heart of the plant, otherwise it will easily cause yellow leaves or rot;

Third, colorful calla lilies are afraid of smoke, which can cause the leaves to turn yellow or the flower buds to fall off.
