How to water the Phlox

How to water the Phlox

Watering method

Potted philadelphus likes moist soil and air. During the growing period of Phlox, you can spray water on the plant frequently to keep the air at a humidity suitable for the growth of Phlox. The soil in the pot needs to be kept moist at ordinary times, but do not water too much to cause water accumulation. The roots of the philadelphus can adapt to drier soil but are very afraid of soaking. Once water accumulates in the pot, it will easily cause root rot of the plant. Therefore, when watering, you should follow the principle of "watering as soon as the soil becomes dry", that is, watering after the surface of the potting soil becomes dry.

The temperature is high in summer, so in addition to watering frequently, you also need to spray the leaves once a day. This will not only increase the air humidity, but also make the leaves shiny and improve the appearance of the plant. When the temperature drops significantly in late autumn, watering must be controlled. The number of watering should be reduced appropriately in winter, and spraying water on the plants can be used instead of watering. When spraying or watering, use water that is about the same temperature as room temperature to avoid frostbite of the plants.

Precautions

Note: If you find that you have watered too much, you can move the potted plant to a bright and ventilated place to speed up the evaporation of water. If the leaves or petioles of the plant droop and appear wrinkled, it means that the plant is not getting enough water. Once discovered, just water it immediately with an appropriate amount.

When watering potted philadelphus, as long as you pay attention to the above techniques and adjust the watering frequency and amount of watering in time, there will be no problem.
