1. Camellia buds fall

  Reason 1: Mobile location

When the camellia is about to bloom, people will put it in a place where it is easy to view. However, the light intensity and time in the new location are different from those in the original location, which will disrupt the growth rhythm of the camellia and cause the flower buds to fall off.

Solution:

Try not to move the camellia when it is in bloom. Even if you want to move the location, it can't be too different from the previous environment!

Reason 2: Improper watering

Camellia should avoid waterlogging. If the soil in the pot is too wet, the roots will not be able to absorb water normally, which will cause the flowers and buds to fall off. During the flowering period of camellia, the soil in the pot should be kept moist but slightly dry. If it is too dry, the fleshy fibrous roots will dehydrate and die; if it is too wet, the fibrous roots will suffocate and rot due to the stagnant water. When the plant does not get enough water, it will drop its buds first and then its leaves.

Solution:

If the soil in the pot is too dry, you should first water it in small amounts to make the soil gradually moist, and then water it thoroughly. In winter, water the soil only when it is about 70% dry, and water with warm water at noon on a sunny day.

Reason 3: pH is not suitable

Camellia likes acid, and sandy loam with a soil pH of 5 to 6.5 is more suitable. Excessively acidic or alkaline soil, heavy clay soil, saline-alkali soil, calcareous soil, etc. will cause camellia to grow poorly and certain trace elements cannot be absorbed. Lack of nutrients such as phosphorus, iron, and sulfur in the soil can also cause green deficiency and bud drop.

Solution:

The symptoms should be sprayed with 0.2% ferrous sulfate solution every week.

Reason 4: Unsuitable temperature

Pay attention to adjusting the temperature. When the temperature drops to close to 0℃, move the camellia to a bright place indoors and cover it with a curtain to keep it warm at night. It is advisable to maintain a temperature of 3℃ to 5℃ during the winter. If the temperature exceeds 16℃, it will germinate prematurely and cause leaves and buds to fall. Below 0℃, the flower buds will be frozen.

Solution:

The temperature in the early stage of flowering should not be lower than 5℃ to 7℃, and the temperature during the flowering period should be between 10℃ and 15℃, with a maximum of 20℃. Camellia can keep its buds as long as the temperature is above 2℃ in winter. Camellia hates too big temperature difference, if the temperature is sometimes high and sometimes low, all the buds will fall off.

Reason 5: Poor ventilation

If camellia is kept indoors for a long time in winter with poor ventilation, polluted air or room temperature exceeding 20℃, it will also cause buds and leaves to fall.

Reason 7: Improper fertilization

Apply fertilizer frequently and in small amounts, and avoid applying raw or concentrated fertilizer.
