How to promote the growth of flower buds of Kalanchoe

How to promote the growth of flower buds of Kalanchoe

1. Water appropriately

It is a succulent plant and is drought-tolerant. Therefore, watering does not need to be too frequent during the maintenance period. It is enough to water once every two or three days during the growing period. When watering, water thoroughly, but be careful not to allow water to accumulate. Normally, the soil in the pot should be kept at 70% humidity, which can promote the formation of flower buds and grow more flower buds.

2. Reasonable fertilization

It likes fertilizer, so when planting it in a pot, you should add base fertilizer to the bottom to make the plant grow more vigorously. Fertilize frequently during the growing season, once every half a month. For home maintenance, you can directly purchase special fertilizers to avoid high concentrations that may burn the roots. In addition, additional fertilizers should be added in autumn, such as phosphorus and potassium fertilizers.

3. Timely pruning

It grows quickly, so it needs to be pruned promptly. In the early stage of growth, the plants should be pinched to save nutrients and promote branch growth, so that the flowers can bloom more vigorously in the later stage. After the flowering period, it is necessary to promptly cut off the dead flowers, dead branches, rotten branches and diseased branches so that more flowers can bloom next time.

4. Suitable lighting

It is a short-day plant. The most suitable daily light exposure time for its growth and development is between eight and nine hours. If the light exposure time is insufficient, the flowering period will be delayed or even no flowering will occur. When caring for it, you can place it on the balcony, where good light will be more conducive to the formation of flower buds.
