How to propagate tennis flower

Propagation of tennis ball flower by dividing bulbs

Tennis flower is a bulbous plant that grows underground bulbs, so when it is propagated, it can be divided into bulbs.

The division of tennis flowers is generally carried out in spring, and can be combined with repotting. Take out the tennis flower plant, remove the soil, gently break off the newly grown small balls around the mother ball of the tennis flower, and then plant them separately.

When tennis flowers are propagated by dividing bulbs, they can be planted in pots or in the ground. Because the mother bulb of the tennis flower has weak division ability and poor ability to form daughter bulbs, the tennis flower generally needs to be divided and propagated once every 2-3 years. Note that when dividing the tennis flower, the planted small bulbs should not be buried too deep. After the bulbs germinate, water them moderately to avoid water accumulation.

Sowing and propagation of tennis flower

In addition to propagating by dividing balls, tennis flowers can also be propagated by sowing.

For the propagation of tennis flower by seeds, you need to collect seeds first. After the flowers of tennis flower fade, usually about 50 to 60 days, the seeds will mature and can be harvested. It is generally best to harvest and sow at any time.

The sowing and propagation of tennis flowers is mainly carried out in pots. If the growing conditions are suitable, the seeds can basically germinate in about 15 days. The growth of tennis flower seedlings is relatively slow, and it takes about 4 to 5 years of cultivation before the tennis flower will bloom.

After the tennis flower is propagated, it needs reasonable maintenance, which is conducive to the growth and flowering of the tennis flower.
