How to take cuttings of Globe amaranth

Cutting method

branch

During the recycling period from June to July, cut strong branches with a length of about 4 to 6 cm, each with 3 to 4 nodes. In order to improve the survival rate of cuttings and reduce water evaporation, some of the leaves on the branches can be cut off.

Cuttings

Insert the pruned branches directly into the soil and keep the temperature at 20~25℃. They will take root in 15~20 days. If the temperature is lower, rooting may be delayed by 5~7 days. Of course, you can also use external force to apply rooting powder on the cut of the branch, and it will take root in about 10 days.

Maintenance after cutting

Moisture

The soil has been moistened before cuttings to prevent the branches from being injured. It should also be watered in time after cuttings to ensure that the branches and soil are closely combined. Spray 1 to 2 times a day, each time for 1 to 2 minutes.

illumination

Before the roots of the seedlings grow normally, try to block out any light and ensure the maintenance location is bright. After the seedlings grow leaves, provide normal light. Usually the shading rate is 80%~90% in summer, and 70%~80% in spring and autumn.

temperature

The most suitable temperature for rooting cuttings is 20~25℃. If the environment is lower than 18℃, it will have a certain impact on rooting. If the temperature is below 10℃, it will cause frostbite, so you need to pay attention to temperature control when doing cuttings in winter.

Basin

When the roots of the cuttings grow to 0.5-1.0 cm, they can be transplanted into pots. If they are transplanted too late, the seedlings will grow weak in the nutrient-free sand, affecting their future growth and development. When choosing a pot for planting, you should use a clay pot, which has better drainage performance than a plastic pot. Generally, 6-7 inch clay pots are used for planting, with 3 plants in each pot.
