How to fertilize orchids

How to fertilize orchids

Fertilizer selection

Mature farmyard manure

This is very common in rural areas, but difficult to obtain in cities. Farmyard manure is a very good organic fertilizer, but it needs to be decomposed for more than a year before it can be used. Soak it in fertilizer water and pour it directly along the edge of the pot.

fertilizer

Try to buy professional flower fertilizers, pay attention to the balance of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium when fertilizing, and strictly control the concentration. To improve the aesthetics, you can reduce the content of nitrogen fertilizer appropriately. However, if you want the orchid to have bigger flowers, you can increase the content of nitrogen fertilizer. However, you cannot have both leaves and flowers at the same time.

How to fertilize

Give frequently and sparingly, eat small meals frequently

No plant can be fed too much at once, and the same goes for orchids. For plants that grow vigorously, apply a thin liquid fertilizer every 10 to 15 days. For plants that grow weakly, the fertilization cycle can be shortened appropriately, but thin fertilizers must still be applied.

Foliar spraying

Foliar spraying of fertilizer can supplement the nutrients of orchids through absorption by orchid leaves, and will not allow the fertilizer to contact the roots and cause fertilizer damage. It is the best way to fertilize orchids. As long as you spray fertilizer on the leaves every 10 days or so during the growth and development period, you can grow orchids well without fertilizing the pots.
