Is the ugli orange genetically modified? What season is it in?

Is the ugli orange genetically modified? What season is it in?

1. Is it genetically modified?

Ugly orange is not what people call genetically modified, it is actually a hybrid variety. The Ugly orange fruit is the result of hybridization, a cross between the Kiyomi and Ponkan varieties. It first appeared in my country in 2000 and was initially cultivated in Sichuan Province.

2. What are the seasonal fruits?

Ugly orange is a spring fruit. It matures around February or March in early spring. However, depending on the region and breeding climate, the ripening time may be delayed or advanced. In some areas, it matures around January. It is colored around December, and the skin will gradually turn yellow-orange. It will be just ripe around February or March of the following year, and it tastes best when eaten.

3. Selection method

When buying ugly oranges, you should try to choose those with uneven skin. Although this does not look very beautiful, the taste is better. If its skin is very neat and round, it is probably a fake ugly orange. You can peel one before buying it. If the skin at the bottom of the orange is thin and easy to peel, then you can buy it.
