Rose is one of my country's traditional famous flowers. It is loved by flower lovers for its gorgeous flowers, rich fragrance and long viewing period. In addition to being suitable for potted plants , it is also suitable for ground planting. So what are the methods and techniques for planting roses in the ground? Let’s learn more about it below. 1. Planting site selection Roses like light and are suitable for planting in sunny places, ensuring that they can see sunlight for more than 6 hours a day. The soil should be loose, breathable, well-drained, soft, deep, and have a pH value of around 6.5. 2. Land preparation and fertilization Before planting roses, the land must be deeply plowed and sufficient base fertilizer must be applied, preferably well-rotted manure. Dig holes and plant in the beds. It can be planted in autumn, winter and early spring. The plant spacing is 160-200 cm, and about 400 plants are planted per acre. 3. Seedling selection Choose bare-root seedlings that grow well and are free of diseases and pests. Prune off the dead branches and rotten leaves on the rose seedlings to reduce the consumption of water and nutrients, which will also help them survive in the later stage of planting. 4. Planting method Depending on the size of the rose seedling, dig a hole in the soil, about 30 cm x 30 cm square hole, make sure the depth is moderate to provide sufficient space for the roots. Apply an appropriate amount of fertilizer at the bottom of the pit, then fill it with some soil. Then hold the rose seedling in one hand, plant the seedling in the soil, cover it with soil and press it tightly. 5. Maintenance and management (1) Watering: Roses are drought-tolerant but not waterlogged. Watering should be done after the soil is dry. Water once a day in hot summer and early autumn, water appropriately before flowering, and pay attention to drainage after rain. (2) Fertilization: It is not advisable to apply fertilizer to newly planted roses in the first two months. After that, you can apply compound fertilizer every 20 days to provide the roses with the necessary nutrients. (3) Pruning: Pruning can usually be done after the leaves fall. The amount of pruning can be larger, mainly focusing on thinning out diseased and insect-infested branches, dead branches, and overly dense and thin branches. 6. Pest and disease control Check the leaves and branches of the plants regularly to detect and treat pests and diseases in a timely manner. Common diseases include rust, powdery mildew, brown spot and black spot, which can be controlled by using pesticides such as oxycarboxin, thiophanate-methyl and benomyl; common insect pests include red spider mites, aphids and scale insects, which can be controlled by using insecticides such as chlorpyrifos, dimethoate and malathion. In general, there are differences between planting ground roses and potted roses, and certain methods and techniques need to be followed, especially the early site selection and seedling selection work must be done well. This will allow you to successfully plant and maintain healthy, beautiful ground-grown roses.
