How to grow azalea in spring

More ventilation

Most azaleas spend the winter indoors. With the arrival of spring, the temperature gradually rises. The indoor temperature can reach around 28°C in early April, and timely ventilation is needed at this time. If you are maintaining it indoors, you can open the windows for ventilation for 2 to 3 hours at noon. As the temperature rises, the ventilation time will increase. If you want to move it outdoors for maintenance, you can cover it with plastic film at night and remove it during the day.

Shade

In mid-March, the sun is relatively abundant at noon, and the top leaves are easily burned and turn reddish brown. At this time, you need to put up a shade net, open it in the morning and evening, and provide shade at noon. If conditions permit, you can build and remove the shade net at home. As May approaches and the sunlight becomes stronger, you can add two layers of shade nets to welcome the strong summer sunlight. The shade net can be fixed with iron wire, which is parallel to the ground. It can provide shade and increase ventilation conditions, making the environment inside the net cooler.

Watering

As temperatures rise in spring, azaleas' water requirements also increase. In mid-April, water the plants once a day on sunny days. In May, water once a day and spray once. In June, in addition to watering thoroughly once a day, you should also spray water frequently to increase humidity and reduce temperature, keeping the temperature between 15℃ and 25℃ and the air humidity at around 70%.

In addition to the above three maintenance points, you also need to pay attention to not arranging the flowers too densely, do not let water accumulate in the pot when watering, water with alum fertilizer water once every half a month, or spray ferrous sulfate solution on the leaves. In addition, attention should be paid to timely prevention of diseases and pests. Starting from March, spraying chlorothalonil solution once every 20 days can ensure that the plants are healthy and disease-free. With this care, you won’t have to worry about azaleas in spring!
