How to propagate garden hibiscus by cuttings

Cutting propagation method 1

Hibiscus is usually propagated by cuttings in spring and will bloom in autumn.

The cutting method is: when the local temperature stabilizes at 15℃, choose the buds, and the condition for choosing branches is 1-2 year old strong branches. The selected branches were cut into pieces about 15-20 cm in length. When doing cuttings, predict the row spacing of the plants, insert the small sticks into them in a predictable manner, and then insert the hibiscus branches through the holes. The length of the small sticks inserted into the soil should be 10-15cm. Cover the soil after insertion, and water immediately after cuttings. Do not apply any base fertilizer.

Cutting propagation method 2

The courtyard is relatively spacious, so the cutting density may vary depending on whether it is seedling transplanting or direct planting.

In the cultivation of seedlings and transplanting, we can take advantage of the nature of the cuttings to bloom in the year they are planted, and carry out cuttings according to different densities of seedlings and transplanting.

After the second year, thin out the seedlings according to different densities every year to ensure that the hibiscus has enough nutrients and water for its growth, so that more and larger flowers can be grown.

Cutting propagation method three

The depth of the trench for cuttings is required to be about 15cm, and the upper end of the cuttings should be allowed to grow 3-5cm above the soil layer. After cuttings, the soil should be flattened and compacted, and watered in time.

Cuttings usually take root and sprout in about 30 days after being planted. Use plastic film to keep warm and moist. In autumn, soak the healthy cuttings in NAA solution. They can be planted in the sand bed in less than a day and watered in time.

Cover with thermal insulation film and keep the temperature at 18-25℃ after covering. The relative humidity is about 85%, and cultivation is carried out after rooting.
