How to propagate lotus? Can lotus propagate itself at home?

How to propagate lotus? Can lotus propagate itself at home?

1. Reproduction method

1. Seed propagation: Seed propagation is a very common method and the method is relatively simple. First prepare the container and a suitable substrate. You can choose fertile pond mud, or you can make it yourself with yellow sand, loess, or garden soil. Choose suitable seeds, break the hard outer shell, and then soak them in warm water. Change the water frequently and keep them warm. They will germinate in about a week. Then sow the lotus seeds, add appropriate amount of water, the water layer should be shallow, and pay attention to maintenance.

2. Propagation by lotus root division: This propagation method is best carried out in March or April in spring. If the time is too early or too late, it will affect the reproduction and survival. Choose a thick rhizome, and then cut it into sections every 2-3 nodes. Each section has a terminal bud, and the tail section should be retained. Prepare the substrate and insert the seed lotus root into it. Be careful not to let water enter the tail of the lotus root, otherwise it will affect its growth. After planting, place it in the sun to dry. After the soil has slight cracks, add a small amount of water and pay attention to maintenance and cultivation in the later stage.

2. Can I breed it at home?

Lotus can be propagated at home. The sowing method is very simple and does not require complicated steps. In order to ensure the survival rate, the surrounding growth environment must be suitable.
