Changes in plants in winter, changes in plants in autumn

1. Changes in plants during winter

Abnormal depression: After entering winter, the temperature begins to drop, plant growth almost stops, and most plants enter a dormant period. As people have concluded based on experience, winter is the season when all things sleep. When winter comes, the temperature becomes very low, and with the blowing of cold wind, the leaves of plants turn yellow and fall off, leaving only bare branches. Compared with other seasons, it appears to be very lacking in vitality and vigor, and extremely depressed. Because most plants have poor cold resistance, they may even freeze to death if left outdoors, but this is also a relatively normal phenomenon.

Improved cold resistance: After entering winter, plants enter a deep sleep period, their breathing weakens, and their consumption of nutrients decreases. The metabolic intensity of the entire plant is also greatly weakened, which helps the accumulation of nutrients such as sugars and can enhance stress resistance. In addition, the concentration of the plant's cell sap will also increase, which can lower the freezing point and play a self-protection role. During the cold-resistant training year after year, the amino acid content of the plant gradually increases, and the proline content also increases significantly, which can play an anti-freeze role and play a certain role in the plant's own adaptation to adversity.

2. Changes in Plants in Autumn

Autumn is the season of falling leaves. After entering autumn, the leaves of some perennial plants will turn yellow and then gradually wither and fall off, while annual plants may enter the end of their lives and slowly wither and die. Most plants will shed their leaves in autumn because after entering autumn, the temperature drops, the light weakens, and there is less rain. The amount of water and nutrients that the roots of plants can absorb is greatly reduced, which is not conducive to their normal photosynthesis and transpiration. In this case, if the leaves continue to remain, the plant's water will be consumed faster, which is not conducive to survival. Therefore, the most obvious change in plants after entering autumn is the withering and falling of leaves.
