1. The difference between Kapok and Bauhinia

Different families and genera: The bombax ceiba, also known as the beauty tree, is a perennial semi-evergreen or deciduous tree of the bombax genus of the Bombax family. It is native to South America and is now widely planted in Taiwan, Hubei, Guangdong, Fujian and other southern cities in my country. Bauhinia is a deciduous tree or shrub of the genus Cercis in the Fabaceae family. It is native to China and is distributed in western Hubei, Hebei, Henan, Liaoning, Gansu, Yunnan, Sichuan and other places in my country.

Morphological characteristics: Silk cotton tree is a large deciduous tree, which can reach a height of ten to fifteen meters. Its crown is umbrella-shaped, the leaves are green, and the lower part of the trunk is relatively swollen, like the shape of a wine bottle. The palm-shaped compound leaves have five to nine leaflets, which are oval and about thirteen centimeters long. Its flowers are solitary, with a lavender corolla with a white center and usually five petals. Bauhinia is a deciduous tree that generally takes on a shrub-like appearance after cultivation. Its leaves are alternate, nearly round, with a pointed apex and a heart-shaped base. They are six to fourteen centimeters long, five to fourteen centimeters wide, and hairless. Its flowers usually bloom before the leaves. They are not solitary, but usually clustered in four to ten on an old branch. The flowers are rose red in color.

Different flowering periods: The flowering period of the silk cotton tree is from September to January of the following year, and winter is its peak flowering period. The flowering period of Bauhinia is from April to May. It blooms before the leaves in early spring, and the branches will be covered with flowers after blooming.

Different uses: Silk cotton tree is an excellent flowering tree, mainly used for garden greening and high-grade street tree, and can also be used for garden landscaping. Bauhinia flowers are usually planted in courtyards, in front of buildings or on the edges of lawns as ornamental clumps. In addition to its ornamental value, it also has certain medicinal value and is very rich in functions. In addition, its wood grain is very straight and can be used to make furniture and as construction wood.

2. Kapok Period

The flowering period of the silk cotton tree is generally from September to January of the following year, and winter is its peak flowering period. After its flowers fade, it usually bears fruits, which can be large or small.
