Can Jade Plants be hydroponically cultivated?

Jade Plant can be grown in water, but not for a long time, because its roots will rot if soaked in water for a long time. Therefore, Jade Plant is generally grown in soil. However, in order to increase its rooting speed, people usually use hydroponics to induce it to take root.

Methods and key points of hydroponic cultivation of Jade Leaf

1. Cut branches

The branches used for hydroponics should be relatively strong, with a length of 10-15 cm. It is recommended to select branches grown this year from the top of the Jade Plant. Try not to use woody branches, as they are difficult to root. After cutting the branches, dry them in a ventilated and cool place.

2. Put it into the container

Place the dried branches in a hydroponic container filled with water and an appropriate amount of nutrient solution. However, please note that the branches of the Jade Plant should not come into contact with water. It is better to keep its lower end 0.5 cm away from the water.

3. Post-maintenance

After the Jade Plant is put into water, place the container in a bright place, such as a balcony or floor-to-ceiling window where it can receive scattered light, and be careful not to expose it to strong light.

Precautions for growing Jade Plants in water

1. In the early stage of maintenance, in order to ensure the cleanliness of the water, it is necessary to change the water every 3-5 days. After one month, the water can be changed every 10 days or so. If there is less water during the growth period, water it in time. Also, pay attention to adding a small amount of plant nutrient solution every time you change the water, which can make the leaves grow better.

2. Even the Jade Plant grown in water needs sunlight. Adequate sunlight can make its leaves grow stronger, but when encountering periods of strong light, you should also pay attention to shading.

3. If you want to grow hydroponically for a long time, you need to prepare special nutrient solution for succulents to ensure the nutrient absorption of the plants. However, if you find that the plants are growing weak and sick after a period of hydroponics, you must plant them back in the soil in time.
