1. Soil:

Lotus is not very demanding on soil quality and can grow in a large area. It grows best in clay soils that are rich in organic matter, have a deep soil layer and good water storage capacity.

2. Lighting:

Lotus roots like light, and sufficient light must be maintained during the growth period, which is conducive to the growth of lotus roots. Lack of light will cause the lotus roots to grow slowly, the fruit quality will be poor, and the commercial value will be lost.

3. Fertilization:

Lotus root mainly uses organic fertilizer as its base fertilizer, and the fertilizer must be fully decomposed. Top dressing is required during the growth period, and attention should be paid to the coordinated application of nitrogen and phosphate fertilizers. Silica fertilizers and boron fertilizers can also be added.

4. Temperature:

Lotus root is a thermophilic plant. The initial temperature for lotus germination is around 15℃, and the optimum temperature for growth is 28-30℃. The large temperature difference between day and night is conducive to the expansion of lotus roots.

5. Pest and disease control:

1. Diseases: The main diseases of lotus root are black root disease and leaf blight. They can harm the leaves and rhizomes of lotus roots, and in severe cases can cause death. Before planting, choose disease-free lotus roots for planting, and remove diseased plants at the same time, and completely eliminate diseased plants and diseased residues in the lotus field.

2. Pests: The main pests of lotus root are lotus aphids and fall armyworm, which will suck rhizome juice, spread viruses, and affect the normal development and growth of the plants. You can use drugs such as malathion emulsion and anti-aphid wettable powder to spray for prevention and control.
