How to grow kumquat on the balcony, what should you pay attention to

1. Sunlight

Kumquats must be placed in a place with sufficient light and cannot be kept in a hidden environment for a long time, otherwise the branches and leaves will grow too long and the number of flowers and fruits will decrease. It is generally best to keep it outdoors. If you grow it at home, you can also place it on the balcony. The light needs can be met well. Reasonable light exposure can enable photosynthesis to proceed and accumulate nutrients to maintain good growth needs. Note that the intensity of sunlight in summer is very high, which may cause burns to the branches and leaves if you are not careful. You can place it in a slightly shaded place.

2. Reasonable watering

During its growth, it prefers moisture but avoids waterlogging. It is necessary to water it reasonably during the growth period to keep the soil in the pot moist. The soil should not be too dry, nor too wet to cause root rot. When the surrounding environment is relatively dry, you need to spray water on the leaves to increase the air humidity, but avoid spraying water during the flowering period.

3. Apply fertilizer

During maintenance, a reasonable amount of fertilizer and water should be used, and more nitrogen fertilizer should be applied during the growth period to promote rapid growth and avoid nutrient deficiency. It consumes nutrients when it blooms. Apply more phosphorus fertilizer after flowering to replenish the nutrients consumed by flowering.

4. Temperature requirements

Kumquat prefers a cool climate. When the temperature is low in late autumn, it needs to be moved indoors to keep warm, and try to maintain it at around 6-12℃.
