Astragalus cultivation methods and precautions

1. Maintenance methods

1. Temperature: It has relatively high temperature requirements during the growth period. It must be ensured that the temperature is above 20 degrees to grow and maintain. However, the temperature required for seed germination is relatively low. Generally, it can be sown when the temperature reaches 8 degrees Celsius.

2. Watering: Water needs to be controlled before seedlings emerge in order to promote root growth. When it blooms, you need to increase watering appropriately because this is its growth period and it has a greater demand for water. After the seeds are harvested, watering is no longer needed.

3. Fertilization: When laying the base fertilizer, you can use human and animal feces and urine. In addition, according to its growth conditions, it is also necessary to give it topdressing. The first time is in May, and human and animal feces and urine can still be used. The second time is when the seedlings grow to 30 cm, and urea is needed for topdressing; the third topdressing is in late July, at this time its plant height should be about 60 cm, and the fertilizers to be used should be fertilizer cake and potassium superphosphate.

4. Light: Because it is a long-day plant, the light must be sufficient, and the daily light time cannot be less than eight hours.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction: It can be propagated by sowing. First, you need to select the seeds and remove the shriveled and moldy seeds to reduce the disease. Then soak the seeds in warm water for three hours. After taking them out, cover them with cloth and let them sit for twelve hours. Finally, sprinkle the seeds into the prepared culture medium. When the seeds grow three true leaves, they can be transplanted and planted.

2. Pruning: Generally, it does not require pruning. You only need to remove the dry and rotten branches and leaves.

3. Problem Diagnosis

1. Powdery mildew: If the plant has white powdery spots on both sides of the leaves, it means it is infected with powdery mildew and needs to be treated by spraying with 25% oxycarboxin solution.

2. Disease: Yellowing of branches and leaves of the plant is mostly caused by improper watering. It is necessary to properly control watering and ensure a frequency of two to three times a week.

IV. Other issues

1. Edibility: It cannot be eaten directly, but its whole plant can be used as medicine. ,

2. Toxicity: It needs to be used in moderation when used as medicine. If used in excessive amounts, it will cause high blood pressure in patients, especially those with a history of hypertension, who need to be more careful.
