Cultivation methods and precautions of Rainbow Purslane

Cultivation methods and precautions of Rainbow Purslane

1. Maintenance methods

1. Soil: The soil prepared for rainbow purslane needs to have good drainage. When preparing the soil, you can add an appropriate amount of coarse sand, and the main part can be garden soil.

2. Watering: It is a very drought-resistant plant, but it is also afraid of waterlogging. It is okay to water it less during normal times, but be sure not to allow water to accumulate. Generally, watering once every 4-5 days is sufficient.

3. Light: Give it sufficient light during its growth period. Lack of light will cause it to grow too tall and its color will become dull. It should be noted that when the sunlight is strong at noon in summer, shade is needed to avoid overexposure to the plants.

4. Temperature: Its optimal growth environment temperature is 20-25℃. It has poor tolerance to low temperatures, so try to keep it indoors in winter and keep the temperature above 10℃.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Cutting: The best time for cutting is April in spring, or September to October. Choose strong branches, dry the wounds in the sun and then you can start cuttings. The survival rate is very high.

2. Grafting: The grafting method requires cutting the incision of the scion into a duckbill shape, and then choosing an older branch as the rootstock. After inserting it, tie it with plastic film and place it in semi-shaded place for 10-15 days to survive.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Anthracnose: This is one of the more common diseases of rainbow purslane. In the early stage of the disease, it is necessary to spray it with 800 times diluted 75% thiophanate-methyl wettable powder in time.

2. Scale insects: This is a very common plant pest, which can cause great damage to plants. When discovered in the early stages, you should spray them with pesticides in time until they are completely cured.

IV. Other issues

1. Can it be grown indoors: Rainbow Purslane can be grown indoors, but try to place it in a location with better lighting. If it lacks light, it will grow too tall and its leaves will become dull in color.

2. Is it poisonous? Rainbow purslane is non-toxic. It is a plant with very bright colors. It will look very lively when grown at home and it is harmless to the human body.
