How to grow Jade Dew Ruby

How to grow Jade Dew Ruby

1. Maintenance methods

1. Light: Jade ruby needs sufficient light to grow normally. Growing in the shade will cause its leaves to be thin and elongated, and the plant will be loose. But if the light is too strong, it can also cause burns on the leaves, resulting in scars, etc. You can put it in semi-shade to make the leaves thicker and more transparent.

2. Soil: Jade Ruby has high requirements for soil drainage. If the soil is too heavy or hardened, water cannot be absorbed. You can mix vermiculite and leaf mold. A higher proportion of vermiculite will be more conducive to its growth.

3. Watering: As a succulent plant, Jade Ruby does not have a high demand for water. Excessive watering can cause waterlogging and root rot. Although long-term drought will cause its growth to be poor, it can still survive. If you can't control the watering time, wait until the soil is dry before watering again, but pay attention to maintaining the air humidity at other times.

4. Fertilization: Jade Ruby is sensitive to fertilizer, and homemade fertilizer can easily burn the roots. It is generally recommended to use some slow-release fertilizer, which can be added as base fertilizer when changing the soil to provide it with nutrients for a long time.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Cutting: Cutting is a common propagation method for Jade Ruby. Choose plump and full leaves, pick them and place them in a cool place. After the wound is dry, you can plant it in sandy soil. Once it has taken root and sprouted, it can be transplanted.

2. Sowing: Jade Ruby will produce seeds only after artificial pollination during the flowering period. After collecting the seeds, sow them in the potting soil, cover them with a glass sheet, and they will sprout in about 20 days. Then remove the glass, increase ventilation, and keep the soil in the pot moist.

3. Pest and disease control

1. Pests: Scale insects are relatively common. It needs to be removed or sprayed with omethoate solution.

2. Diseases: Mainly root rot and anthracnose. It is necessary to open windows for ventilation, remove diseased leaves, and then spray with carbendazim and other treatments.
