How and when to plant lavender seeds

How and when to plant lavender seeds

1. Planting time

The planting time for lavender seeds is mainly in spring and autumn. Spring sowing is more suitable, from March to June in the south and from April to June in the north. This is the stage when the temperature rises and the growth environment is suitable, which is conducive to growth and development. Observe the weather before planting. It is best to plant when the weather is clear, which can promote smooth germination and growth.

2. Prepare seeds

Lavender seeds are critical and can determine the survival rate of planting. Select healthy seeds in advance that are full, substantial, and free of pests and diseases. In order to increase the germination rate, you can process the seeds in advance and prepare them for germination. Prepare warm water and soak the seeds in it. Take them out after soaking for about twelve hours, place them in a cool and ventilated place to drain and then you can sow them.

3. Prepare the soil

Lavender seeds are very small and are suitable for planting in soil with good air permeability. They can provide breathable, well-drained slightly acidic soil. They can be mixed with vermiculite, peat soil, perlite, etc. and the soil should be disinfected and sterilized to avoid the breeding of bacteria and pests after planting.

4. Sowing

Lavender seeds are light and small. Put some water on your fingers, then dip the seeds on them, gently sow them into the soil, and cover them with a thin layer of soil.

5. Post-management

After sowing lavender, you can put it in a pot and water it thoroughly. After sowing, place it in a cool and ventilated place with appropriate light. It will germinate in about a week.
