What month is suitable for planting dragon fruit?

The area where pitaya is grown is mostly in southern China, so generally speaking, pitaya can be grown all year round.

Generally, pitaya is suitable for growing in a warm, humid and well-lit environment. It should be watered more frequently during planting in spring and summer to keep its roots in a state of vigorous growth. In rainy weather, attention should be paid to timely drainage.

Dragon fruit planting method

1. Cutting

The best time for pitaya cuttings is spring. No watering is required after cuttings. Keep the soil dry. Start watering gradually after 10 days. It usually takes about 15-30 days for roots to take root and sprout. Transplant to the seedbed when the roots grow to 3-100px.

2. Grafting

Choose a sunny day to graft pitaya. At a temperature of 28-30℃, callus tissue will form at the wound joint surface within 4-5 days. The color of the scion and the rootstock will be close, indicating that the grafting is successful. Then it can be moved into the transplanting nursery for further cultivation.

Points to note when planting pitaya

1. Fruit tree management: Because the plant support of pitaya is relatively poor, it needs certain support to help it grow. It is best to place a rack around the pitaya when it grows to about 1.5m. When the dragon fruit grows to about 1.2 meters, pay attention to promptly remove the horizontally growing branches and leaves to avoid overlapping branches, which is not conducive to the growth of pitaya.

2. Planting method: The planting method is usually cutting or grafting. The planting soil should be selected from areas with high humus content and strong drainage capacity. If there is a lack of seedlings after transplanting, it should be checked and sown in time.
