The difference between miniature coconut and areca palm

1. Difference in appearance

The miniature coconut palm is an evergreen shrub. The height of the potted plant generally does not exceed 1 meter. The stem is upright, dark green, with irregular patterns and no branches.

Areca palm is a clumping shrub, which is taller than the former, about 2-5 meters high, with a thick stem and a slightly swollen base.

2. Difference of blades

The leaves of the miniature coconut are pinnately divided, with lobes that are lanceolate, dark green and very shiny. It is about 14-22 cm long and 2-3 cm wide. The young leaves are green, while the old leaves are darker, dark green.

The leaves of the Areca palm are also pinnately divided, and are relatively wider than the former, about 35-50 cm long, about 1.2-2 cm wide, and yellow-green in color.

3. The difference between flowers

The miniature coconut palm has a fleshy spadix with yellow, ball-shaped flowers.

The Areca palm has a panicle inflorescence that grows under the leaf sheath. It is golden yellow in color and ovoid in shape.
