Kumquat pest control methods

Kumquat leafminer

Most larvae burrow under the epidermis on the back of kumquat leaves, forming winding tunnels. The affected leaves often curl and fall off, seriously affecting their growth and flowering and fruiting.

Prevention and control methods: In spring, new shoots sprout in large numbers. When the shoot length does not exceed 1 cm, you can use 100 times diluted biological pesticide Bacillus thuringiensis for spraying, which has a good effect and can prevent fruit. You can also use 1000 times diluted oxydemeton-methyl emulsifiable concentrate for spraying.

Citrus tangerine

The citrus spider, also known as the red spider and yellow spider, harms kumquat leaves, tips and fruits, with the leaves being the most seriously affected, and the occurrence is most severe from June to September. When the leaves are affected, many grayish-white spots appear on the front and they lose their luster. In severe cases, they turn pink and white, causing a large amount of leaf fall.

Prevention and control methods: During the occurrence period, you can use 0.3 degree lime sulfur mixture or 1000 times diluted 40% dimethoate emulsion, or 700 times diluted 20% mite egg ester wettable powder for spraying. Spray once every half a month, spray 3-4 times, the effect is significant.

Swallowtail butterfly

The larvae of this insect damage the leaves. Young and tender leaves are often eaten up, and older leaves are often eaten down to only the main veins.

Prevention and control methods: ① If overwintering pupae are found on the plants in winter, they should be removed manually in time; ② The larvae of swallowtail butterflies are large and easy to be found. When sporadic occurrences occur, they can be killed in time; ③ During the larval occurrence period, 800 times the diluted 90% dichlorvos can be used for spraying for prevention and control.
