1. Leaf Difference

The leaves of Zanthoxylum bungeanum have 3 to 9 leaflets, sometimes 11, with obvious wing leaves. The leaflets are opposite, usually lanceolate, 3 to 12 cm long and 1 to 3 cm wide. The leaves are pointed at both ends, and sometimes the base is broadly cuneate. After drying, the leaf margins curl slightly backwards and the leaf surface is slightly rough and wrinkled.

The leaves of Zanthoxylum bungeanum have 5 to 13 leaflets, the rachis usually has narrow leaf wings, the leaflets are opposite, sessile, ovate, elliptical, sometimes rounded at the base, 2 to 7 cm long, 1 to 3.5 cm wide, and have finely serrated margins.

2. Flower Differences

The inflorescence of Zanthoxylum bungeanum grows nearly axillary or at the top of the side branches at the same time, is 2 to 5 cm long, and contains about 30 small flowers.

The Zanthoxylum bungeanum inflorescence grows at the terminal or the top of the side branches, with 6 to 8 yellow-green tepals.

3. Fruit Difference

The fruits of Zanthoxylum bungeanum are purple-red with a few slightly raised oil spots.
