The difference between winter dates and red dates

1. The difference in fruit color

When the winter jujube is ripe, the sunny side is red, the rest of the fruit is bluish-white, and the flesh is white with a slight hint of green. Red dates are green when they are not fully ripe, turn bright red when they are ripe, and become even redder after they are dried.

2. Different maturity periods

Winter dates mature later than ordinary dates, around mid-to-early October when the weather turns cold. The earlier varieties mature in early September. Red dates usually bloom in late spring, mature in summer, and are almost gone in autumn.

3. Difference in taste

The winter jujube has large fruits, thin skin and very crisp flesh. The red dates are smaller and the pits are larger.
