Common mint differences

In summer, many flower lovers will buy a few pots of mint, but although they are all called mint, do you know what kind of mint you bought, whether you can eat it, and what effects it has?

There are four common types of mint on the market: peppermint, spearmint, lemon mint, and catnip.

1. Peppermint

The leaves of peppermint are thin, pointed, long, smooth, and have radial veins. They have a pungent smell and are suitable for cooking.

2. Spearmint

Also known as green mint, it is a more common mint variety. The leaves are dark in color and uneven. The tips of old leaves are not obvious, while the tips of new leaves are obvious and have a strong smell. They are generally used as dessert decorations.

3. Lemon mint

Lemon mint is the most easily confused mint variety. It looks the same as spearmint, but the main difference is the smell. If you pinch the leaves of lemon mint, you will smell lemon or soap.

4. Catnip

The biggest feature of catnip is the white fluff on its leaves. It also has a fragrance that will drive cats crazy when they smell it.

The difference between rose, Chinese rose and rose

Although they are all in the Rosaceae family, the prices of roses, hybrid roses, and roses are different. Many roses on the market today are no longer real roses. Can you tell the difference?

1. Rose and Chinese rose

The main difference between roses and Chinese roses is the branches. Chinese roses have large leaves, 3-5 leaves grow together, and the thorns on the branches are large and hooked; roses have many leaves, 5-9 leaves grow together, the leaf patterns are obvious, and there are densely packed small thorns on the branches.

Nowadays, most of the "roses" sold in flower shops are cut roses, which have beautiful shapes and are easy to propagate, so they can meet market demand. For example, the popular red roses are actually Corolla roses.

2. Rose and rose

Most roses bloom multiple times a year, with larger and prettier flowers. Roses bloom only once a year, with smaller flowers, usually in clusters.

Fragrant wood and pepperwood

I believe many flower lovers have bought fragrant wood. In fact, most of the fragrant wood on the market is fake pepper wood. The two are very different and are not even close relatives.

1. Fragrant wood

The fragrant wood belongs to the genus Coptis chinensis. The new leaves are red, and there are two leaves on the top of the leaves, forming a "Y" shape. The fragrant wood has a fragrance and can be extracted into essential oils. The leaves and bark can also be used as medicine.

2. Pepperwood

Pepperwood is a species of Zanthoxylum, with relatively small, shiny leaves and only one leaf at the tip. Pepperwood has little value except for greening the environment. Almost all the fragrant woods on the market are made of it.'

Lover's Tears and Buddhist Beads

Many succulent lovers confuse the Teardrops of Lover with the Buddha's Beads. Although they are both hanging succulents, they look very different.

1. Lover's Tears

The leaves of the Lover's Tears are pointed. If you grow it fatter, it will still have a small pointed tip.

2. Buddhist beads

Buddhist beads are, of course, round like beads. Although they have small points, they are generally round.
