Taboos for growing cyclamen in winter

Failure to move indoors in time

We all know that this flower is relatively cold-resistant, but that doesn’t mean it must be grown outdoors in winter. In winter, the most comfortable temperature for this safflower is actually 12-16℃. If you want them to bloom as scheduled, you need to raise the temperature a little bit, preferably to 18-22℃. Therefore, friends who cannot meet the requirements outside in winter must put them indoors. Once the temperature reaches below 5℃, they will grow very slowly, and will produce very few flowers, or even no flowers at all. Even if a few flowers bloom, the colors will not be as bright as normal.

Do not over-fertilize

If it did not bloom in the previous year, you can slowly increase the amount of watering in autumn. In October, it should be placed in a sunny place. You can apply a little fertilizer before mid-December, and no fertilizer is needed after that. The first flowering usually occurs in November, but the second flowering occurs a little later, usually in December. Before buds appear, you can use some fertilizers with higher P content, so that the flowers can bloom better. If you spray a little gibberellin on the flower buds and stems, the flowers will bloom faster.

Don’t ignore pests and diseases

There are many common diseases on this kind of flower, such as gray mold. If symptoms of disease appear, you must not ignore them. Be sure to place them in a location with better air circulation and try to place them in a place with a lower temperature. At the same time, reduce watering a bit and do not sprinkle water on the leaves. No wounds should appear during maintenance. Once they appear, they must be dealt with in time to prevent the bacteria from taking this opportunity to enter the plant. If there are dead leaves or old leaves, don't feel bad about it. You can just pick them off. This can greatly reduce the source of pathogens.
