Osmanthus fragrans ordinary layering

Ordinary layering is the simplest layering method. It is suitable for flowers whose branches can be bent down. This method can be used for most flowers.

Steps:

1. Choose a strong branch with many branches, and gently ring-peel a wound about 0.5-1cm wide at 1/2-2/3 of the branch.

2. Bend the branches down and place them directly into the soil. Be careful when bending to avoid breaking the branches by sudden force. (If flower lovers want a simpler method, they can also bend the branches directly into another prepared flower pot, so that the branches do not need to be transplanted after rooting.)

3. Dig a hole in the soil and bury the ringed branch with the wound in the soil.

4. After the ring barking wound is buried in the soil, you can press a brick on it to prevent the branches from curling up.

5. If you can't find bricks at home, you can also make a U-shape with wire and insert it into the soil with the opening facing down to prevent the branches from curling up.

6. Pay attention to watering regularly to ensure the soil is moist. Using this layering method, roots will take about 15-20 days to take shape. Because the branches have not yet separated from the mother plant at this time, the nutrients are still sufficient and the rooting is very fast. After rooting, cut the branches directly and put them in pots.

Jasmine one branch multiple pressing method

Sometimes when we are layering, we choose branches that are relatively long. At this time, we can use the one-branch-multiple-layering method. Today, Huahua will take jasmine as an example.

Steps:

1. Choose a strong long jasmine branch and ring-peel it 180 degrees, that is, for each node of the branch, only ring-peel it 180 degrees, leaving half of the skin.

2. Because the jasmine branches you choose are relatively long, you can ring-bark the 1, 3, 5, and 7 nodes on the branches as rooting points, and leave the 2, 4, 6, and 8 nodes as growth points for new branches. If the branches are long enough, you can leave a few more nodes between the ring-barking nodes, which will facilitate the rapid growth of new branches.

3. Prepare several plastic bottles, cut off the upper part, leaving only the bottom part. Poke a small hole in the bottom of the plastic bottle, then put it on the jasmine branch, and then add sand, peat soil or other soil into the plastic bottle, making sure that the wound of the jasmine ring barking is buried in the soil. Then build a rack and use tape to tie the plastic bottle and the rack together to prevent the branches from falling over.

4. In about 2 months, the layered jasmine will grow white roots.

5. Cut off the jasmine branches and they will immediately become 4 small jasmine plants. Isn’t it easier than taking cuttings?

Bougainvillea high altitude layering

High-altitude layering is suitable for flowers whose branches are not easy to bend, such as osmanthus, camellia, magnolia, etc. Today, Huahua will take Bougainvillea as an example to talk about how to perform high-altitude layering.

Steps:

1. Select strong branches grown in the current year from the bougainvillea, and then ring-bark the branches that need to be layered, with a width of about 0.5-1cm. Be sure to scrape the cambium of the branches (that is, the layer of green skin) clean.

2. Dip a cotton swab in some rooting powder and apply it to the wound caused by ring barking.

3. Prepare a piece of toilet paper or paper towel, fold it slightly, and wrap it around the wound of the bougainvillea.

4. After wrapping the wound with toilet paper, use a small spray bottle to spray water on the paper towel. After the paper towel is thoroughly soaked, wrap it with a layer of plastic wrap or plastic bag to keep it moist. Then use a thin thread to tie the top of the plastic bag firmly, and don't tie the bottom too tight, so that the roots can drill out directly from the bottom.

5. Finally, wrap a layer of newspaper on the outside of the plastic wrap to block out the light. The branches can stimulate cell division and growth in a dark environment, and after ring barking, all the nutrients of the branches are concentrated in the wound, which can make the branches take root faster.

6. Spray the paper towel with water every 3-5 days to prevent it from lacking water, otherwise it will affect the rooting of bougainvillea. It only takes about 20-30 days for the bougainvillea branches to take root.

7. Cut off the rooted branches directly and put them in the pot together with paper towels. After the operation of high-altitude layering, you can get a new bougainvillea potted plant!

Rose layering method

Steps:

1. If you want to propagate roses by layering, it is best to choose branches grown in the current year for ring barking. The ring barking wound should be about 1 cm.

2. Find a plastic bottle, cut off the mouth of the bottle, then cut two holes on both sides of the bottle wall so that the branches can pass through the bottle. Finally, poke a few small holes at the bottom of the bottle to ensure there are drainage holes.

3. Fill a plastic bottle with the soil needed for cuttings, and then insert the branches into the slits in the bottle. The ringed part of the rose branch must be included in the bottle. Cover it with soil and water it thoroughly. In about 15 days, you can see the layered rose taking root.

4. After rooting, cut the branches short and put them directly into the pot. Before potting, just cut the plastic bottle open.
