How to grow Selaginella

How to grow Selaginella

Farming methods

soil

When growing Selaginella, the potting soil needs to be loose and well-drained. Sandy soil is preferred, but you can also mix some soil yourself.

Light and temperature

Selaginella has strong vitality and likes a warm environment. The suitable temperature for its growth is around 20℃. In winter, be careful not to let the temperature drop below 0℃.

Selaginella prefers a semi-shady growing environment. Generally, it should be placed in a shady and humid place without direct sunlight when grown in pots.

Water and fertilizer

Selaginella is drought-resistant, but it needs plenty of watering during the growing period to keep the pot moist. Because it likes humidity, it needs to be sprayed with water frequently, but be careful not to use cold water.

It is generally recommended to fertilize Selaginella once every half a month.

Precautions

Repotting

When growing Selaginella, it is necessary to change the pot. Generally, a shallow pot can be chosen, and the time to change the pot is in spring. If you don't repot, you also need to change the soil.

Pests and diseases

When cultivating Selaginella, diseases and pests often occur, such as leaf spot disease, anthracnose, etc., which are extremely harmful and affect the growth of the plant. The main insect pest is brown soft scale, which can cause great harm.

Generally, when diseases and insect pests occur in Selaginella, timely measures should be taken to prevent and control them. Diseased branches and leaves should be removed promptly, and pests should be driven out manually or by spraying some pesticides to kill them.
