How to grow air plants

How to grow air plants

1. Breeding environment

(1) Temperature: The most suitable temperature is between 15 and 25 degrees. In winter, the temperature must be above five degrees to ensure a safe winter. In summer, if the temperature is higher than 25 degrees, ventilation needs to be strengthened and humidity should also be increased.

(2) Water: Generally, indoor plants only need to be watered once or twice a week. In addition to watering, the plant has high requirements for air humidity, so spraying water is very important. Generally it is done two or three times a week, and once a day during drought. Be careful not to leave too much water in the center of the leaves, as this can easily cause rot.

(3) Light: Different varieties have different requirements. Gray-leaved plants require stronger light, while green-leaved plants are better at tolerant to shade. It is best to grow it indoors in a brightly lit area.

(4) Fertilization: Potassium dihydrogen phosphate plus urea, mixed with enough water as fertilizer, once a week. However, fertilization should be stopped in winter and during the flowering period.

2. Disease prevention and control

The plants are susceptible to sunburn. The disease is prone to occur when the light is too strong and there is too much water on the surface of the leaves and it does not evaporate in time. Therefore, attention should be paid to ventilation to speed up water evaporation. After spraying water, do not place it in a place with too strong light.

3. Pest control

The main pest is red spider mites, which suck moisture from the leaves and cause them to dry out. Therefore, after discovery, targeted pesticides need to be sprayed and the humidity needs to be appropriately increased.
