Mango potted plants

Eat mango

I bought a mango and threw away the core after eating it.

Cleaning the mango pit

Use a fruit knife to scrape off the remaining yellow flesh on the outside, wash it clean and place it in a dry and ventilated place to dry. Two days later, it will become as shown in the picture below. The outside is off-white, which is very different from the flesh.

Cut the mango pit

Use a pair of sharp scissors to cut from the edge of the core, being careful not to cut your hands, and then peel off the shell.

Remove the seeds

After peeling it open, you can see the mango seeds inside. Take out the seeds.

Stripping film

Use a knife to remove the brown film on the surface of the seeds. Be very careful in this step. Do not damage the seeds. After removing the film, soak the mango seeds in water. Change the water every day to remove the impurities soaked out.

Seed soaking and germination

After 4 days, the soaked seeds will generally begin to germinate and can be planted at this time.

If the seeds have not sprouted yet, you can soak them for a few more days, but the soaking time should not be too long. It is best to soak them for 4 to 7 days, otherwise the seeds will rot.

During the soaking process, the seeds will gradually turn into a light yellow-green color.

Planting mangoes

Choose a taller flowerpot and put in potting soil, spray some water to make the soil surface moist, then use chopsticks or other small wooden sticks to dig holes suitable for the size of the seeds.

With one end of the sprout facing upwards and the other end facing downwards, place the mango seed in the soil with the upward part slightly exposed outside the soil.

Maintenance

Spread a thin layer of medical stone or other small stones, and then use a watering can to spray water 2 to 3 times to make the soil and seeds completely wet.

Then move the potted plant to indirect sunlight and wait for germination. It needs watering about once every 1-2 days.

Sprouting and growing leaves

After about 4 days, tender shoots began to grow and quickly grew taller.

The picture below shows what it looks like on the 8th day. The plant is already 10 to 18 cm tall, and the stems and leaves are a dark red color. After a period of time, the leaves and stems will slowly turn green.

Mangosteen potted plants

Eat mangosteen

Eat the mangosteen you bought, leaving the seeds, clean them, and soak them in a shallow basin of water for about 10 days, changing the water once a day.

Let mangosteen sprout and take root

After 10 days, bury the seeds shallowly in slightly moist soil, and wait for them to germinate and take root.

Buds and roots

About two weeks later, white teeth and light red roots appeared at both ends of the seed.

Planting Mangosteen

Fill the prepared pot with culture soil and bury the sprouted mangosteen in the soil, making sure the sprouts are facing upwards and the roots are facing downwards. Then cover with a thin layer of medical stone and water until the soil is moist.

Mangosteen long stem

Wait quietly for about 15 days, and you will see red stems emerging. A day later, the leaves unfolded.

Leaf color change

After two weeks, the color of the leaves faded and the green could be vaguely seen.

New sprouts

After the first batch of leaves turn green, it will take about half a month for new buds to sprout, which are also red. After a period of time, they will slowly turn green. And mangosteen grows very slowly, very slowly, and you may wait until it is almost half dead. There are not many leaves either.
