Cultivation methods and precautions of purple pineapple

Farming methods

Pot soil selection

When choosing a flowerpot for a purple bromeliad potted plant, you need to choose an opaque plastic pot. The size of the pot should be determined according to the size of the plant. It should generally be slightly larger to allow for further growth of the purple bromeliad. The soil should be slightly acidic, with good water retention and drainage. Peat soil is generally used, and some perlite, leaf mold, vermiculite, etc. are mixed in to make the soil breathable.

Light and temperature

Purple bromeliad needs sufficient light. When the light is strong, maintaining humidity and increasing ventilation will make the purple bromeliad grow rapidly and bloom more beautifully. Insufficient light will cause the purple bromeliad plant to grow too tall, reducing its ornamental value. Therefore, the purple pineapple needs to maintain sufficient sunlight every day, but it should be noted that the light in summer should not be too strong and appropriate shade is needed.

The suitable temperature for the growth of purple pineapple is between 20℃ and 30℃. During the high temperatures in summer, the temperature can be lowered by shading and ventilation. In winter, when the temperature drops, insulation is needed.

Watering and fertilizing

Purple pineapple needs certain nutrients and water to grow. Summer and autumn are the peak growing seasons, and it needs more water. You can water it every 1 to 3 days, and water it in the center of the plant. Winter is the dormant period of purple pineapple, so you need to control watering. Water it once a week and don’t water it unless the soil in the pot is dry. It should not be too wet.

When applying fertilizer, you must ensure that the purple pineapple has all the nutrients it needs for growth, and apply fertilizers containing elements such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium in a certain proportion.

Precautions

Reproduction method

The main method of propagation of purple pineapple is to plant basal buds or to sow seeds.

Pests and diseases

During its growth process, purple pineapple is easily attacked by red spider mites and spider mite, and needs to be sprayed with Fruit Le Emulsion.
