How to cultivate the heavy fan

How to cultivate the heavy fan

Farming methods

Water and fertilizer management

Watering: Spring, summer and autumn are the heavy growing seasons, so the soil in the pot should be kept moist; winter is the dormant season, so the soil in the pot should be kept slightly dry, and the principle of "watering thoroughly when the soil is dry" should be adhered to. Be careful not to accumulate water in the winter, as this can easily lead to root rot.

Fertilization: Fertilize once every half month during the growing season. Use special fertilizer for succulents, and the amount of fertilizer should be less rather than more.

Lighting Processing

The double fan is a light-loving plant that can be maintained in full sunlight and is suitable for being placed in a place with bright light.

Temperature requirements

The heavy fan is not cold-resistant, but is tolerant to semi-shade and drought. The suitable temperature for its growth is 18~25 degrees Celsius, and not lower than 10 degrees in winter.

Reproduction method

Division: In spring, carry out division propagation in conjunction with repotting, and pull out the densely crowded stems and leaves from the inside. Plant 3 to 4 plants in each pot.

Cuttings: From May to September, cut short folded stems, 7 to 8 cm long, and insert them into the sand bed. They will take root 10 to 15 days after insertion, and can be potted after 1 week.

Repotting

The heavy fan should be repotted in spring. When repotting, cut off the dead leaves and long stems. A pot with a diameter of 12 to 15 cm can be used. The potting soil should be a mixture of leaf mold, culture soil and coarse sand, with a small amount of bone meal added.

Precautions

Common pests

The common insect pests of double fan are scale insects, and the common disease is leaf blight. During the high temperatures in summer, pay attention to timely ventilation, adjust the indoor air humidity and temperature, and prevent the breeding of diseases and pests.

Lighting requirements

The thick fan likes warm, humid and sunny environment, but avoids exposure to the sun. Summer is the most suitable season for the growth of spathiphyllum, but it is also the season when its leaves are most likely to be burned. Pay attention to the light treatment during summer maintenance. Do not place it outdoors in the sun blindly, but provide appropriate shade.
