What are the cultivation methods and precautions of golden pine

How to cultivate golden pine

Golden pine is a plant of the genus Golden pine in the Pinaceae family. The propagation methods of golden pine include cuttings or sowing. Seeds should be collected from vigorous mother trees that are more than 20 years old. The seeds should be harvested before the cones are fully mature. If the time is too late, the seeds will fall off along with the seed scales. The nursery soil should be inoculated with mycorrhizae.

Golden pine seedlings are slightly shade-tolerant, and adult trees need to be provided with sufficient light, but they cannot tolerate direct sunlight. They need shade in summer and prefer a warm environment. The maintenance temperature in winter needs to be above 5 degrees. The plant grows fast and likes to grow in warm, rainy, deep, fertile, well-drained acidic soil mountainous areas.

Watering method

Golden pine cannot tolerate waterlogging environments. Generally, it should be kept in dry and wet environments, and the potting soil should be kept slightly dry. If the air is dry, spray water on the leaves and branches frequently to maintain the humidity of the potting soil and air and reduce the drying of leaf tips.

Fertilization method

During the growing period of golden pine, a thin liquid fertilizer can be applied once every 30 days. It is mainly made by diluting decomposed organic fertilizers such as bean cake residue with water. Fertilization should be stopped during the rainy season, high temperature season or after the beginning of autumn.

Pruning methods

When pruning the golden pine, you can shorten the branches that grow too fast and temporarily retain the slow-growing branches, and then process them after they grow thick. Pruning should be based on the shape, so as to improve the overall ornamental value.

Precautions for growing golden pine

Golden pine is suitable for planting in deep, fertile, well-drained acidic or neutral soil. Too dry, barren or saline-alkaline soil will cause poor growth of the plant. The suitable growth temperature is between 15-25 degrees. It needs to be moved to a cool place when the summer temperature is above 32 degrees. It should not be lower than 0 degrees during the winter.
