Is the copper coin grass the money grass? What is the difference between the copper coin grass and the money grass?

1. Is it money grass?

Pennywort is not Money Plant. The two are two completely different plants with very different families and genera. However, judging from their appearance alone, they have some similarities and are not easy to distinguish. Generally, they need to be distinguished based on the leaves or flowers of the plant. Although both have medicinal properties, their effects are completely different.

2. The difference between the two

1. Different families: Pennywort is a perennial herb of the genus Glechoma in the family Apiaceae, while Moneywort is a plant of the genus Loosestrife in the family Primulaceae, order Primulales.

2. Different appearance: Most of the pennywort is hairy, mostly white or purple in color, and has fibrous roots on the stem nodes. Its leaves are very thin and kidney-shaped, dark green on the surface and light green on the back. They are generally palm-shaped with 5-7 lobes. The edges have irregular serrations. Its flowers are umbels, mostly axillary, with 25-50 flowers on them. The buds are grass green and turn white when they open. Moneywort is usually glabrous, but occasionally has sparse, soft hairs. The oval leaves are opposite, and the flowers are solitary in the leaf axils. The corolla is yellow and usually blooms from May to July.

3. Different distribution: Pennywort is mainly produced in Sichuan, Yunnan, Hunan and other regions of my country. It usually grows at an altitude of 1060-2900 meters and can be easily found by rivers and on damp roadside grass. The distribution range of Moneywort is wider and it can be found all over the north and south. In addition to being found along ditches and roadsides, it can also be found under forests on hillsides.
