1. Banana Origin

Origin: Bananas were first grown in southeastern China and Southeast Asia, and have a very long history of cultivation. It was not until BC that it was spread to West Africa, and then from West Africa to Central and South America, and later it was widely cultivated in the Americas.

The current banana producing areas in the world: Bananas are typical tropical fruits, suitable for growing in tropical and subtropical areas. Tropical countries are especially suitable for growing bananas. Therefore, Asian countries and countries such as India, Malaysia and the Philippines have a very large banana planting area and are major banana-growing countries in the world. In addition, places such as Panama and Brazil are also keen on growing bananas. At present, bananas are grown in areas with a suitable climate.

Important production areas in China: my country is also a major banana-growing country. Currently, banana production is mainly concentrated in southern provinces such as Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Fujian, Hainan, and Taiwan. In addition, it is also planted in Guizhou, Sichuan, Chongqing and other places, but the area is smaller.

2. Banana Varieties

Qiwei Jiao: A tall-stem fragrant banana, mainly distributed in Gaozhou City, Guangdong Province, my country, and is an excellent variety in the city. This variety has high yield and long fruit fingers, and comes in two varieties: tall-legged and short-legged.

Canna: A tall-stem banana that evolved from a mutation of the northern banana in Taiwan Province. It is the main cultivated variety in Taiwan Province. This variety has a high fruit content, but its quality is slightly inferior to that of northern banana. However, its peel is thicker and suitable for storage and transportation.

Williams banana: a medium-stem banana variety introduced from Australia. The quality is medium, the characteristics are good, and the number of fruits is less.

Large-bodied high-handled banana: a tall-stem fragrant banana, is an excellent variety in Dongguan City, Guangdong Province. High yield, good quality, relatively cold and drought resistant.

Gaojiaodundileijiao: A tall and fragrant banana, it is an excellent variety in Gaozhou City, Guangdong Province. The quality is medium, the yield is high, and the breeding requirements are relatively high.

Dwarf Dundilei Banana: A medium-trunk fragrant banana, it is also one of the main cultivated varieties in Gaozhou City, Guangdong and other places. The quality is above average, the yield is stable and the adaptability is strong.

Guangdong Banana No. 1: A dwarf to medium-trunk banana, suitable for cultivation in southern China, especially in coastal areas with more typhoons. The yield is abundant and stable, and the ability to resist adversity is strong.

Guangdong Banana No. 2: A medium-dry fragrant banana with abundant yield, good fruit shape and excellent quality. This variety has strong adaptability and can be planted in all areas, but it has relatively high requirements for water and substrate.

In addition, there are Meijiao, Canna, Saigon Banana, Tianbao Banana, Qitou Banana, Gaozhou Dwarf Banana, Guangxi Dwarf Banana and Hekou Gaoba Banana.
