Why is the flower of Albizia Julibrissin called the flower of bitterness?

1. Pink fan

Legend has it that there was a person named Fenshan, who had a husband who was a scholar. After several years of hard study, the scholar finally reached the time to go to the capital to take the imperial examination. Before he left, Fanshan pointed at the bitter love tree and told him that he would definitely be admitted to the imperial examination, but there were too many flowers in the capital, so she hoped he would remember to go home. Her husband nodded in agreement, but did not respond for a long time. Pink Fan waited day after day for her black hair to turn white. She could only run to the bitter love tree and swear at the end of her life that if her husband changed his mind, the bitter love tree would bloom. Her husband was the leaf and she was the flower. The leaves would fall only when the flowers grew old. The next year, the tree really bloomed many flowers. Each flower looked like a pink fan, but it only bloomed for one day, and the leaves bloomed and fell with the flowers. From then on, the bitter love tree was named the albizzia tree.

The two concubines cried bitterly by the river and their tears turned to blood. They died only after all the blood was gone. Afterwards, the two of them and Shun's spirit turned into this kind of tree.
