How to make wolfberry bonsai

Material selection

When wolfberries begin to sprout in April, choose plants with better stumps, cut short the long branches, cut off the messy branches, dig them out carefully, ensure the integrity of the roots, put them in plastic bags, and tie the bag to prevent water evaporation. (The plants can be dug up from the mountains, or you can buy seedlings and nurse them for 2-3 years before shaping them.)

Basin

Choose a flowerpot with a diameter of about 20 cm and add loose soil. Before planting, the plant should be properly pruned, the roots should be dipped in mud, and placed in a pot. After planting, water thoroughly and place in a cool place for 2 to 3 days to shape it.

Based on the characteristics of wolfberry's strong germination ability and rapid branch growth, the plant can be made into an umbrella shape or a two-story building shape. The method is very simple, prune in time and keep three branches.

Maintenance

① Moisturizing: Lycium barbarum bonsai should be sprayed with water frequently to keep the branches moist and promote growth.

② Remove buds: In mid-April, the wolfberry buds should be removed in time during the budding period. Remove the buds from each branch except for the one at the top. At the same time, prune the shoots when they grow to about 10 cm.

③ Top dressing: Start top dressing in late April, mainly nitrogen fertilizer, using urea aqueous solution, once every 10 days. In July, the branches have basically taken shape. Reduce nitrogen fertilizer, increase phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, and spray potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution once every 10 days.
