How to grow edamame in pots on the balcony?

Planting time

The best time to plant edamame in balcony pots is from February to March in spring, from May to June in summer, and from July to August in autumn.

Seed selection soaking

Choose intact seeds that are free of insects and soak them in water for about a day to allow the seeds to absorb sufficient water.

Pot soil preparation

Flower pots, glass containers, buckets, and foam boxes can all be used as containers for growing edamame, but the depth should be more than 25 cm.

sowing

Use your fingers to lightly make a few small holes in the soil, place a seed in each hole, and cover with a 2 to 3 cm thick layer of soil. Water thoroughly. But there should be no waterlogging or accumulation of water. At the same time, be careful not to wash out the seeds when watering. Under normal circumstances, sprouts will appear in 3 to 5 days. After sprouting, water it when the soil is dry to prevent wanton growth.

Thinning and transplanting: If there is only one plant in a container, there is no need for thinning. If there are multiple plants, the extra seedlings that do not look strong should be removed. Transplantation is also performed at this stage.

earth

When branches grow, their roots need to be stabilized and the covering soil can be increased.

pick

When the beans grow very full, they are ready to be picked. You can harvest a lot of edamame from one plant.

Friends who are interested, come and try it and taste the edamame that you grew yourself!
