How to grow chicory in potted plants on the balcony?

Potting method

1. Choose slightly fine soil and spread it in the flowerpot, the depth of which should be at least 20 cm.

2. Before sowing, water the soil thoroughly. There must be no waterlogging or accumulation of water.

3. Place the seeds evenly in the pot and cover them with a layer of soil with a thickness of about 0.5 cm. Spray water frequently to keep the soil moist; in such an environment, chicory seeds will sprout in 3-5 days.

4. When the sprout grows to have two leaves, it can be planted or transplanted. Weak seedlings can be removed.

5. After about 3 months, you can pick the chicory leaves and eat them.

Precautions

1. Chicory prefers slightly cooler temperatures and can generally survive between 10 and 25 degrees, but the best temperature is between 15 and 20 degrees.

2. Chicory is suitable for growing in an environment with plenty of sunlight. So the best place to put it is the balcony.

3. If you don’t want to grow chicory in soil, you can also grow it in water. Chicory also likes to grow in water.

4. When planting chicory, be sure to water the soil in the pot thoroughly, which is conducive to the growth of seedlings during the planting period. During the growing season, keep an eye on the soil and water as soon as it becomes dry.

5. Also, before planting or sowing, ensure that there is sufficient base fertilizer in the soil, so that there is no need to apply additional fertilizer afterwards.
