Why do apricot leaves curl?

Why do apricot leaves curl?

1. Improper moisture

Reason: During the planting process, apricot trees lack water for a long time, which makes it difficult for the soil to absorb water. The leaves will naturally close their stomata, causing them to curl and shrink. On the contrary, if the garden is low-lying and there is severe waterlogging for a long time, the soil will become deficient in oxygen, inhibiting its respiration, hindering its transportation function, and causing leaf curling.

Solution: Water according to the growth needs. When there is a lack of water, water can be supplied slowly and gradually to allow the water to penetrate into the roots. After the rain, drainage should be promoted to avoid water accumulation.

2. Improper fertilization

Reason: For apricot trees, the roots need fertilizer to promote growth. Applying uncomposted fertilizer or using high-concentration chemical fertilizers will damage the roots and cause leaf curling.

Solution: Apply fertilizer according to the growth trend. Do not apply too much fertilizer. Also pay attention to the concentration. Try to apply thin fertilizers multiple times. When too much fertilizer is applied, water is needed to dilute it and promote drainage.

3. Infection with pests and diseases

Reason: If the apricot tree is infected with root rot, cutworms and other pests and diseases, the roots will be damaged, the absorption capacity will be affected, and the leaves will curl.

Solution: Fungicides such as chlorothalonil can be used to treat root rot, and corresponding agents can be used to treat insect pests.
